The Shanteyman Has Set Sail for….

The Shanteyman has performed throughout Rhode Island, from Block Island to Woonsocket, Coventry to East Providence. The librarian at the Willett Free Library in Saunderstown recently wrote:

“….Dear BJ,

Many, many thanks for your wonderful Shanteyman program last evening. It was thoroughly enjoyable and so informative. I’ve hosted a lot of programs over the years and yours is at the very top of the list! I will pass the word among my fellow Ocean State librarians about you and The Shanteyman. Every Rhode Islander should hear you–and come out to sing those songs!”
Kids at Whiteknact and Orlo Avenue Schools sang lustily when I visited. My former students at Eldredge Elementary School (pictured above) sang and played. Kids at the Block Island School, Globe Park Elementary and patrons at the Greene Library, the North Kingstown  Free Library, Peace Dale Library and the Jamestown Philomenian Library have sung and chanted and ‘fufu’ed’ and, well, had a grand time as they learned about Music of the Sea.
Contact The Shanteyman via email, write to PO Box 299, Jamestown, RI 02835 or call 401-423-1574 for booking information.
The Shanteyman is part of the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts Educational Roster.
