The crew at Davisville Library hauled on the block-and-tackle, turned the capstan and played in a mean fufu band! Thanks to Miss Sarah and her crew at the library which is celebrating its 100th year! Congratulations to all!

Thanks to Miss Charlotte at Bristol’s Rogers Free Library. We had a great group of singers in the Herreshoff Room this morning. Lots of help and lots of singers as we rocked the room! It’s on to Davisville on Friday at 10:30. “Bound down Trinidad!!”
Thanks to Pam and Meg! I had a wonderful time in East Providence yesterday and Tiverton today. Both libraries are beautiful! (I had never been in the new Tiverton library and it is a beauty!!)

Packing up and heading north to Providence’s Fox Point Branch at 3PM and then down to Warwick’s Main Branch on Sandy Lane at 7PM. And if you can’t make it to either of those I’ll be at the William Hall Branch Library in Cranston tomorrow (Thursday, 7/12) at 2:30. So, throw out me hawser and take ye in tow! See you soon!
At Craig Park this morning a bunch of kids and really big kids got together and sang a few songs. We pumped to “Cape Cod Girls” and turned the capstan to “Bound Down Trinidad” among other things. Anthony and Joey were very helpful throughout. Lotsa parents and kids.
In Providence, I had the opportunity to work with kids in the Summer Bible Camp at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church (beautiful sanctuary!) Father Nazarian and Raffi could not have been more welcoming and I wish them good weather and fair winds for their trip to Mystic Seaport tomorrow!
Tomorrow to Fox Point and Warwick!
A rainy morning on Block Island brought the young sailors to the library on Block Island today. A packed room sang “Cape Cod Girls,” turned the capstan and Madeline won a tug-of-war with her mom, Morgan (with the help of a block-and-tackle…) We sang and played in our fufu band and, in general, had a great time. Thanks to Morgan and the staff at the library for such a welcoming reception!
I love Block Island. It’s that simple. I was the music teacher for four years way back when and I get to go back and share my music with the kids of my former students! I’ll see you on Thursday, June 28 at the Island Free Library. Nothing like it!
On July 3, I get to stay home on my island of Jamestown for a 6PM presentation at the Jamestown Philomenian Library.
