A rainy morning on Block Island brought the young sailors to the library on Block Island today. A packed room sang “Cape Cod Girls,” turned the capstan and Madeline won a tug-of-war with her mom, Morgan (with the help of a block-and-tackle…) We sang and played in our fufu band and, in general, had a great time. Thanks to Morgan and the staff at the library for such a welcoming reception!
I love Block Island. It’s that simple. I was the music teacher for four years way back when and I get to go back and share my music with the kids of my former students! I’ll see you on Thursday, June 28 at the Island Free Library. Nothing like it!
On July 3, I get to stay home on my island of Jamestown for a 6PM presentation at the Jamestown Philomenian Library.
Today, June 21, I’ll be at the Wanskuck Library on Veazie Street in Providence at 2:30 and then sail on down to the Brownell Library in Little Compton for a 6PM show. Next week, I’ll be at the Island Free Library on Block Island. I hope that you’ll join me for some music from the sea. Smooth sailing!
The kids from Mary Fogarty Elementary School kicked off their summer reading with a few sea shanties. The kids and teachers joined right in with the singing and the fufu band. Thanks to Eddi, the children’s librarian for being such a gracious host. And it’s on Wanskuck Library at 233 Veazie Street in Providence and Brownell Library on the Commons – Wednesday, June 20. 2:30 in Providence and 6PM in Little Compton. Hope to see you soon!
